DescriptionMedical emergencies are now one of the GDC's core CPD subjects.
Additional information

All individuals registered with them are obliged to fulfil these requirements.

Most practices now do their CPR training "in-house" but there are other medical problems that also need to be revised & rehearsed from time to time. This course is designed to fill in these gaps.

CPR will not be covered on this course.

Aims

To revise & update all common medical emergencies in general dental practice, as advised by the Resuscitation Council (UK). These are:

  • Asthma
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Cardiac emergencies including angina & myocardial infarction
  • Epileptic seizures
  • Hypoglycaemia
  • Syncope
  • Choking & aspiration
  • Adrenal insufficiency
Objectives

By the end of the course, participants should be more confident in diagnosing & handling these emergencies.
