Aims

To provide imaging guidance on clinically suspected inflammation of the jaws and adjacent soft tissues.

Objectives

1.Revision of clinical signs & symptoms of inflammation of the oral cavity

2. Understanding of imaging modalities suitable for hard tissue inflammatory conditions.

3. Prescribing of ultrasound, MRI and nuclear medicine in the investigation of soft tissue inflammation, including deep neck spaces and salivary glands.

4. Radiographic techniques suitable for assessing inflammatory conditions in special needs patients and children.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session participants should have a sound understanding of the applicability and limitations of radiography and associated imaging techniques for the investigation of inflammatory lesions
