Aims | The aim of the course is to comply with GDC requirements giving highly recommended verifiable CPD to the participants. It will cover many of the key points of IRMER 2018 and IRR17, increasing the confidence of Dentists and radiographically qualified Dental Care Professionals when taking dental radiographs and updating their knowledge of factors relating to quality assurance and dose limitation to patients and staff in dental radiography For dental nurses and non radiographically qualified dental care professionals, in relation to IRMER, it will clarify the roles and duties of the dental team. This is a practical approach to IR(ME)R regulations and quality assurance in dental radiography. It will cover many of the key points of radiation protection, quality assurance and dose limitation to patients and staff. |
Objectives | This course meets Enhanced CPD Development Outcome: A, B, C & D Familiarise delegates with current knowledge, guidelines and legislation regarding g Radiography & Radiology in the dental practice. Revise best practice in prescribing, quality assurance and safety. |
Learning outcomes | At the end of the course the Dentists and DCPs qualified to take radiographs will be: · Be aware of their responsibilities under current IRMER 18 and IRR 17 legislation with clarification of the regulations as they relate to dental practice · Have an understanding of the different types of digital systems available and how to overcome practical issues when working with them in practice · Have a better understanding of the requirements needed to maintain a processor which consistently provides high quality images · Be more confident in dealing with patients presenting with technical radiographic challenges and have an increased knowledge of positioning for intra and extra oral radiographic images At the end of the course members of the Dental Team not qualified to take radiographs will have a better understanding of: · How radiographs are produced and how to identify problem areas if they arise · Their responsibilities under current IRMER18 legislation · The different types of digital systems available and how to achieve high quality assurance in the practice situation · The requirements to maintain a processor which provides good quality radiographs |
