Aims | Contracts – "Heartache or Happiness" - A detailed talk on associate agreements by a legal expert.
- The talk will cover the basic terms that should be included in an associate contract and the implications of certain clauses, especially those relating to finances; as well as common issues that cause dispute, including calculation and retention of fees and examples of case studies.

Objectives | The Regulations To understand the key legal terminology (from the "Contracts" (3361) and "Charges" (3477) legislation) and specifically definitions of: - Course of treatment
- Mandatory treatment
- Splitting
- Urgent treatment
- The session will feature an interactive discussion investigating the schemes understanding of these words with an open debate on case studies and examples of erroneous claiming including GDC cases.

Learning outcomes | - FDs/VDPs will learn of the importance of having a written contract, obtaining legal advice on this contract and knowing where to obtain advice on associate agreements.
- FDs/VDPs will understand their responsibility for accurate claiming. They will learn the important definitions within the Regulations and how these are interpreted. They will appreciate the need for accurate and full contemporaneous clinical records.
