Aims

Designed for people who want more responsibility for safeguarding, this course covers roles and responsibilities in depth. If you are working towards a senior safeguarding role in your organisation e.g. Safeguarding Champion, Designated Person etc. then this course will assist you

Objectives

Children at risk

  • Understand the legal and historical context of safeguarding children and young people
  • Have a knowledge of the categories and their definitions, signs and symptoms of child abuse
  • Know what to do if you’re worried a child is being abused
  • Understand why and how to share information in relation to safeguarding children and young people
  • Develop an awareness of solutions and barriers to safeguarding children within health
  • Gain knowledge of the context of child protection within a health environment

Adults at Risk

  • Understand the legal and historical context of safeguarding adults at risk
  • Increased awareness of the categories of abuse and signs and symptoms of adult abuse
  • Understand how to respond to allegations of abuse
  • Understand how to refer and report concerns or allegations of adult abuse
  • To increase knowledge and skills on information sharing and multi agency working
  • Awareness of the principles of determining capacity
