I graduated from University of Liverpool in 1974, and obtained an MPhil in Oral Surgery/Research from the University of Manchester in 2006. I studied Oral Surgery at Newcastle upon Tyne, before moving to the United States. I worked in my husband’s motorcycle business for ten years. I then taught Behavioural Sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Since returning to England in 1993 I have worked in General Dental Practice, but have maintained my interest in Oral Surgery, teaching undergraduates at Manchester Dental Hospital. I have provided a Tier 2 MOS Service since January 2012, and currently teach MOS to DCT1s. I have been a VT Trainer/Educational Supervisor on 10 occasions, and have been actively involved with the teaching of Communication skills to FDs. I was TPD in the North West Deanery from 2011 - 2014.

Aims

To increase delegates awareness of their individual Personality Types and its effect in the Workplace. To enable delegates to communicate more effectively.

Objectives

To establish delegates individual Personality Type using the Keirsey Temperament Sorter

Demonstrate differences between the 4 main Types

Show how your innate Type affects communication with both patients and colleagues

To explain the value of Assertiveness, and help delegates develop their interpersonal skills and appropriate boundaries.

Learning outcomes

Be better prepared to communicate effectively with both patients and colleagues.

Have a better understanding of delegates own preferences, strengths and weaknesses.
