Infection control:

To provide and update on current legislation and guidance and raise awareness of standard precautions and the importance of maintaining high standards of IP&C  in primary dental care.

Personality and Conflict Resolution;

to increase delegates awareness of their individual personality types, and their understanding of how this affects communication and conflict resolution.

Infection Control;

Identify National Guidance documents for infection prevention and control and decontamination in primary dental care (Code of practice, NICE quality standards & HTM01-05) and highlight key areas of change. Discuss the chain of infection and interventions used in primary care to break the chain (standard precautions).

Personality and conflict Resolution:

To establish delegates individual Personality Type using the Keirsey Temperament Sorter

Demonstrate differences between the 4 main Types

Show how your innate Type affects communication with both patients and colleagues. To explain the value of Assertiveness, and help delegates develop their interpersonal skills and appropriate boundaries. To practice communication skills to facilitate better conflict resolution

Access National Guidance Documents to support compliance with Infection Prevention and Control Standards in Primary Dental Care

Describe how infections can be transmitted

Identify standard precautions used in primary dental care to prevent the spread of infection and appreciate importance of adopting these routinely.
