COURSE START DATE: 13th March 2017 PORTFOLIO DUE DATE: 4th September 2017 EXAM DATE: 16th September 2017
For the practical portfolio students must take a minimum of 40 radiographs under supervision, which must include the following types of radiographs: · 20 periapicals (using the paralleling technique) · 10 pairs of bitewings · 10 panoramic radiographs These radiographs are not required to pass the qualification & will not contribute to the student's final grade, but will be recorded in the student's transcript to demonstrate their experience.
Topics to be icluded are: Radiation Physics o What is an X-ray? o How are X-rays produced? o The effects of X-rays on human tissue · Radiation Protection o How much radiation do you use? o How do you create an X-ray image? o How do you limit the dose? o What is an X-ray image? o Radiographic Anatomy o Patient care and infection control · Practical techniques, Apparatus and equipment o Periapical radiographs: the Paralleling Technique o Bisected angle technique periapical radiographs o How to take bitewings o Other intra-oral radiographic techniques o How to take occlusal radiographs o How to take oblique lateral radiographs o How to take lateral skull radiographs · Films and processing o What's wrong? Intra-oral films o What's wrong? Panoramic film faults · Quality Assurance & the Law | ||
