Aims

To improve confidence in the restorative techniques needed to improve longevity and appearance of posterior composite restorations.

Objectives

This lecture will look at different techniques for the isolation of teeth using rubber dam.

A variety of matrix systems will be discussed and techniques on how to customise them to increase marginal and contact point integrity.

Finally, tips and tricks to help improve the appearance and longevity of posterior composite restorations will be outlined.

Learning outcomes

Candidates will have a greater understanding of the variety of techniques available for the placement of rubber dam to improve tooth isolation.

Candidates will be made aware of the variety of matrix systems available and when and where they are best utilized.

Candidates will be shown layering techniques that help improve the appearance of posterior composite restorations.
