To summaries some demographic, social and medical aspects concerning older patients.

To give an overview of some problems in the provision of restorative dentistry for older patient.

To give a summary of some 'tips' for the management of the highlighted problems.

Objectives

To discuss problems and 'tips' on the restorative dental managemtn of older patient, covering aspects of:-

  • Dentate patient management
  • Partially dentate patient management
  • Edentulous patient management
Learning outcomes

By the end of the seminar, the DCT should have a reasonable appreciation of the challenges of managing the elderly patient and some relevant management strategies.
