To provide a description of the roles and functions of the Local Dental Committees in Lancashire and South Cumbria for newly qualified dentists.

Objectives
  • To outline how and why Local Dental Committees exist, how they are funded, and how they work in Lancashire and South Cumbria and across the North West.
  • To demonstrate how Local Dental Committees support dentists throughout their careers.
  • To describe how Foundation Dentists and recently qualified dentists can source advice from, and become involved with, Local Dental Committees.
Learning outcomes

At the end of the session, delegates will:

  • Have a comparatively greater knowledge of why Local Dental Committees exist, how they are funded and how they work.
  • Appreciate the variety of ways in which Local Dental Committees can support dentists.
