DescriptionThis bespoke course will provide candidates with the knowledge, skills and competence to manage medical emergencies within the dental practice setting and to be the appointed first aider.
Additional information

This course, in addition, will cover the emergency drugs, IM injection, Pulse Oximetery, Glucometer and human factors.

Assessment: Candidates will be assessed by questions and answers and by observation during role play in a simulated environment.

Aims

This bespoke course has been specifically designed for the dental setting, will provide candidates with the knowledge and skill to manage medical and first aid emergencies.

Objectives

Candidates will be able to demonstrate a safe and effective structure appraoch using the drugs and equipment available - (GDC rec list) to manage various emergencies within the dental practice setting.

Learning outcomes

Candidates will be able to:

Demonstrate effective team management skills in a simulated environment.

Demonstrate a structured A-E approach.

Demonstrate safe and effective assessment and apporopriate treatment using drugs and equipment as appropriate.

Demonstrate safe IM injection technique.

Demonstrate good quality CPR and AED skills.

Explain principles of the chain of survival.
