DescriptionNHS rules and regulations This session is to go over the current rules and regulations and discuss what the FD’s understand by them. Trainees will be aware of what they should be doing to comply with these rules.

I am a practicing GDP working in a mixed NHS/Private practice. I have done this for twenty years.

I have also been an ES for the Mersey Deanery for last 9 years and recently became the Training Programme Director for the Lancaster Scheme.

I am also a clinical investigator for NHS England.

Aims
  • To provide an overview of the rules and regulations of providing and claiming for ‘Mandatory Services’ within an NHS Dental Contract.
Objectives
  • Discuss what treatments are expected to be provided and the rules and regulations associated with claiming for courses of treatment within an NHS contract.
  • Discuss when it is (and is not) appropriate to claim multiple courses of treatment related to ‘Phased treatment planning’ within Clinical Pathways.
  • Discuss the rules and ethics of mixing NHS and Private treatment.
Learning outcomes
  • FD’s will be able to work ethically and safely within the rules and regulations of NHS Dentistry.
