Aims
  • To allow the Foundation Dentists to feel comfortable in diagnosing and treating dental trauma.
Objectives
  • Review aetiology and terminology.
  • Look at referral pathways for traumatic injuries. The developing “Saving Smiles” Network.
  • Discuss treatment for each of the most common dental traumas.
  • Describe best practice regarding review protocols.
  • Assess the clinical and biological outcomes of traumatic dental injuries.

  • Analyse current treatment methods for dental trauma.
  • Assess current review protocols for dental trauma.
  • Review current techniques and materials used in practice for optimal treatment outcomes following dental trauma.
  • Know which traumatic injuries to treat in general practice and when to refer.
