Aims
  •  To understand how the GM Trauma Network and the supporting paediatric team can help in managing dental trauma.
  •  To diagnose dental trauma injuries and plan appropriate management.
  •  To have an overview of the management of pulpally involved traumatised immature permanent teeth.
  •  An update with regards to splinting techniques.
  •  Highlight immediate and long-term sequelae of dental traumatic injuries in the growing patient.
Objectives
  •  Explain the GM Trauma Network and when and how to refer.
  •  Revise PDL and pulpal injuries and how to make an appropriate diagnosis and management plan.
  •  Describe how to optimise the outcomes of traumatised immature permanent teeth
  •  Describe the current evidence-based management for non-vital immature traumatised permanent teeth.
  •  Review splinting techniques
  •  Review splinting times
  •  Review the goals of splinting
  •  Discuss immediate and long-term complications of trauma
  •  Discuss diagnosis of complications
  •  Outline methods to minimise and prevent these complications

  • Describe how to optimize outcomes for the immature traumatized incisor.
