Aims

To review the legal and ethical responsibilities of all dental team members by considering a number of cases and scenarios.

Objectives
  • To clarify General Dental Council (GDC) team guidance regarding Standards for the Dental Team and Scope of Practice
  • To describe the importance of dental records, confidentiality and data protection and the professional implications of social media for dental team members
  • To enhance team member’s knowledge and understanding of their professional and personal rights and responsibilities
  • To update team member’s understanding of GDC guidance; Standards, Scope of Practice and Direct Access
  • To enhance knowledge of dental records and the importance of records in avoiding litigation
  • To enhance knowledge and understanding of confidentiality, information processing and the professional implications of social media
