Dementia is becoming increasingly prevalent, due to our ageing population and improved recognition of the condition. However, the nature of dementia means that managing the condition can pose unique and sometimes difficult issues, in Primary Dental Care.

This event will see the Launch the Dementia Tool Kit. The tool kit support the implementation of both the National Dementia Strategy and also offers further information in line with relevant legislation, such as the Mental Capacity Act 2005. The learning materials reinforce the importance of dementia being everyone’s business

• To provide Primary dental teams with up to date information on the Dementia Agenda and local initiatives

• Improve the overall experience of visiting the dental practice for those living with dementia and their carers.
• Provide guidance for clinical care provision for those living with dementia – particularly early stage dementia but also support during more advanced stages
• Utilise the tool kit to identify the many sources of guidance which are already ‘out there’
