Aims

To outline the MI philosophy of oral healthcare delivery and discuss the rationale of modern minimally invasive caries management, from selective caries excavation / cavity preparation through to the judicious use of adhesive restorative materials.

Objectives
  • To explain / define MI Dentistry and its place in contemporary oral healthcare provision.
  • To define the MI roles for members of the oral healthcare team
  • Provide scientific and clinical evidence for the basis of MI Dentistry with regards more specifically to dental caries management.
  • To describe modern methods to restore MI cavities.
Learning outcomes

Delegates will be able to:

  • appreciate the role MI Dentistry has to play in the delivery of oral healthcare to patients.
  • Understand the clinical and scientific rationale behind the MI philosophy.
  • Implement, with the use of their oral healthcare teams, MI preventive and operative management strategies to manage dental caries.
