To discuss the management of the ageing dentition

Objectives

To cover the main considerations for the patient in  the transition from the dentate condition, through the partially-dentate situation, to edentulism.

Learning outcomes

To discuss the management of the ageing natural dentition

• To specifically consider the management of root surface caries

• To describe the transition from the dentate , through the partially dentate, to the edentulous condition

• To outline how to manage difficulties with managing the artificial dentition (complete dentures)
