Description | A novel course successfully piloted in July 2023 combining a mixture of immersive challenging scenarios utilising Virtual Reality (VR) simulation coupled with simulated coroners court inquest experience. The course has been created and designed specifically for the cohort of trainees who approach the last year of their CCT, as stated in the most recent IMT stage 2 curriculum specifying at least 4 hours of simulation training in the final year of IMS2. | ||

Aims | Coroners Inquests simulation Understanding the roles, responsibilities, opportunities arising from the experience of a coroner’s inquest. A short, simulated event to debunk some of the myths surrounding inquests. The session will include time for you to ask questions and aims to leave you feeling more confident as a witness and as a source of support for staff you work with.
Challenging Immersive clinical scenario simulations Numerous immersive simulated clinical scenarios featuring patients with a range of acute presentations with varying acuity and diagnostic uncertainty. These sessions will be delivered utilising state of the art Virtual Reality (VR) headsets to enable delivery of a shared experience for all members of the session. Debrief sessions will offer opportunity to collectively explore delegate-led learning points through discussion facilitated by experienced teaching faculty ensuring a focus on importance of non-technical skills/human factors with each patient interaction. | ||
