Lecturer profileStephen qualified from Bristol University in 1982, became a Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry in 1995 and is currently a Consultant and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Paediatric Dentistry based at Leeds Dental Institute, UK. Although most of his career has been spent in the hospital service, he has also worked in General Dental Practice and the Community Dental Service. He is a Past-President of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry and has recently completed his term as Chair of the SAC in Paediatric Dentistry. He is a member of the Faculty Board of the FDS RCS and is Chair of the National Consultants in Paediatric Dentistry Group.
Lecturer nameMr Mike Harrison
Lecturer profileMike Harrison carried out his specialist training at Cardiff Dental Hospital and Guy’s Hospital, London. His first thesis was on facial and dental injury prevention by cycle safety helmets, but during his involvement with a hypodontia clinic he developed an interest in clinical genetics. His first Consultant post was at the Eastman Dental Hospital, during which time he also undertook molecular studies into dental anomalies at the Institute of Child Health. He subsequently held senior academic and clinical posts at Guy’s and King’s hospitals, and is currently a Consultant at Guy’s. He was a co-author on the first UK national clinical guideline for the use of general anaesthesia in paediatric dentistry, and is current chair of the Paediatric Dentistry Clinical Effectiveness Committee.
Lecturer nameDr Joe Mellor BSc, MBBS
Lecturer profileJoe Mellor qualified from London University 1989: BSc, MBBS. He worked as a Senior House Officer in Middlesbrough and Newcastle, then a Registrar and Senior Registrar in Yorkshire. He became a Fellow of Royal College of Anaesthetists 1994. In 1997 he was awarded a Fellowship in Paediatric Anaesthesia, which he spent in the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children. He became a Consultant Leeds General Infirmary 1998.
