Aims | Recognising that individuals have different work preferences can create barriers to effective working. This workshop will help delegates manage conversations professionally with colleagues resulting in positive outcomes. Learning methods: Presentation of knowledge, tools and techniques; case-studies; questionnaires providing insight into own style; simulation and discussion. |
Objectives | Delegates will: Review the types of difficult conversations that clinicians have experienced with colleagues Learn how to effectively give feedback when required by applying a simple feedback model (SBI) Apply a conflict mode tool (T Kilmann) to address how they currently manage these behaviours and conversations and to recognise their own style (MiRo) Practise applying communication techniques when faced with challenging situations, specifically emotional responses such as anger or disappointment To recognise and respond to bullying/harassment To understand the importance of planning and implementing coping strategies to aid personal resilience To understand how to apply a negotiating strategy to any situation and to be able to influence others |
