Aims

The course aims to promote safe and effective sedation case selection in both adults and children, alternative non-pharmacological techniques that could be considered to manage patient anxiety and the management of complications that may arise in patients being treated under sedation.

Objectives
  • To increase delegate knowledge and confidence in selecting appropriate, safe and effective cases for sedation in both children and adults
  • To increase delegate knowledge of the alternative non pharmacological anxiety management techniques and how to access training
  • To increase confidence in the management of complications that may arise in a patients being treated under sedation
Learning outcomes
  • Confidently assess children and adult patients leading to safe and effective sedation
  • Understand alternative non-pharmacological techniques that could be considered to manage patient’s anxiety and how to access training for these
  • Know what to do if ‘things go wrong’
