Aims

The aim of this course is to discuss and understand the different approaches to manage tooth wear, ranging from minimally invasive additive approaches to removable appliances to manage severely worn dentitions

Objectives
  1. Have a clear understanding of the aetiology of non-carious tooth surface loss.
  2. Appreciate the different options available to manage tooth surface loss, including the use of full coverage crowns, partial coverage onlays, overdentures and composite resin.
  3. Be able to assess and work up a patient with tooth surface loss for treatment with composite resin or an over denture.
Learning outcomes
  1. Confidently diagnose the cause of tooth surface loss in different patients.
  2. More effectively treat tooth surface loss.
  3. Understand the limitations, longevity and maintenance issues relating to the use of composite resin to restore worn teeth.
