DescriptionThis is a group-training event which explores the impact of trauma on oral health with a focus on the importance of trauma-informed care in dental practice with the incorporation of reflective exercises. This is followed by an introduction to the core principles of trauma-informed care and demonstrations of the salient skills to incorporate into best-practice. Skills are practiced in role-play exercises with other attendees. These are reflected upon in situ and refined through further practice.

Aims

To explore why trauma informed care is essential to high-street dentistry and to provide a foundation for the practice of trauma informed care

Objectives
  1. To recognise the need for trauma-informed dental care in dental settings.
  2. To practice managing situations where an awareness of trauma informed care is useful in the dental practice.
  3. To participate in a peer-support network with dental teams within the region
