Aims

This course aims to improve the understanding and practical techniques involved in the provision of partial and complete dentures, in a wide range of clinical settings.

Objectives
  1. Have a working understanding of partial and complete denture design.
  2. To discuss partial denture theory with emphasis on: principles of denture design, overdentures, overlay dentures, use of milled crowns, management of free end saddles and briefly rehabilitation of patients with palatal defects.
  3. To discuss complete denture theory with emphasis on: principles of complete denture design, impression techniques, occlusal registration techniques, management of flabby ridges, gagging patients and basic implant retained overdentures.
Learning outcomes
  1. Undertake partial and complete denture design.
  2. Use appropriate impression techniques and materials.
  3. Rehabilitate a gagging patient with a removable prosthesis.
