DescriptionThis training course supports dental nurses who are involved in caring for patients undergoing minor oral surgery procedures. There are 6 modules. Module 1 – Introduction to the Role, Legislation and Guidance. Module 2 – Pre-operative procedures, regional and dental anatomy, pain and anxiety control. Module 3 – medical complications, wound management and suture removal. Module 4 – Procedures and treatments, post-op complications. Module 5 – Oral disease and associated conditions, oral cancer. Module 6 – Behaviour Management, personal development.
Additional information

Dental nurses must be GDC registered. Able to allocate a workplace clinical supervisor to support any competency workbook. Applicants must have access to a digital device with camera and audio facilities.

Aims

This virtually delivered, online course aims to provide dental nurses with knowledge and understanding to support clinicians and patients undergoing minor oral surgery procedures.

Objectives

The course will:

  • Explain the specific role of the dental nurse in MOS settings to support patient care
  • Explore deeper learning on general and oral anatomy
  • Discuss management of conditions and diseases affecting the oral cavity
