Lecturer profilePaul initially trained as a mechanical, electrical and HTM test engineer for thermal/chemical washer disinfectors and healthcare/pharmaceutical sterilizers.

In 2000 Paul joined Eastwood Park Training Centre and subsequently became the ‘Decontamination’ department Manager in 2004. As such Paul was responsible for the delivery of many courses pertaining to healthcare decontamination practice.

Following his time at Eastwood Park Paul went on to join the NHS in 2007 and is now the Trust Decontamination Manager for North Bristol NHS Trust; as such he is responsible for the management of the Sterile Service Department which reprocesses reusable medical devices for the Trusts twenty six operating theatres. He also advises the Trust on various decontamination issues. In May 2014 the new Southmead PFI hospital opened its doors, and over the next six months Paul will be working on the final phase of the PFI build which is to deliver a state of the art ‘Decontamination Facility’ for the hospital. The opening of this facility is scheduled for August 2016.

‘In his spare time!’ Paul continues to train and present on decontamination issues to all audiences and at different levels of personnel involved in re-usable medical device decontamination. For the past seven years Paul has also been presenting on HTM01-05 for the British Dental Association and other dental related organisations.
