DescriptionDuring the first lecture Peter Briggs will be discsussing all of the dental options for the older patient – do nothing, repair, restore or replace. Comparison of outcomes from scientific studies will be reviewed. Tooth surface loss, natural tooth restorability and the factors that make restorations and indirect restorations predictable will be discussed. The continuing role of the removable partial denture, and complete dentures in 2014 will also be considered. During the second lecture Paul King will discuss current concepts of bridgework in the 21st century. Clinical examples will be shown and advice given on the skill set needed by dental professional. The pros and cons of implant versus conventional tooth replacement, the importance of periodontal factors, and the role of adhesive dentistry will be considered.
