DescriptionA full day course to update on minor oral surgery in general practice with the course being essential for general dental practitioners who want to improve their skills and gain more confidence in dento-alveolar surgery. The course speaker is Stephen Taylor who is in specialist practice as well as working at the Queen Alexandra Hospital Portsmouth. The course will cover hints and tips on extraction technique, complications and which cases to refer. Attendance will also provide evidence of compliance with some of the requirements of CQC- Outcome 4- Care and welfare of people who use services. Outcome 6- Co-operate with other providers.

Aims1) To recognise which oral surgery cases can be safely tackled in general practice and which cases should be referred. 2) To describe some top tips for successful minor oral surgery in general practice. 3) To describe the common complications in minor oral surgery and provide information on how to manage them . 4) To summarise the key issues relating to the placement and restoration of implants. 5) To understand the importance of the medical history .
Objectives1) To realise when to refer certain cases and which cases to safely tackle in practice. 2) To realise the necessity of a thorough medical history prior to minor oral surgery. 3) To realise when complications arise and what to do when they arise. 4) To realise the basics of dental implant placement.
