Delegates should have a complete knowledge of current CPR principles.

This course is designed to further their knowledge and understanding beyond this and offer adjuncts to diagnosis and treatment of medical emergencies experienced in the dental practice.

Objectives

By the end of this course delegates should be able to:

  • Identify the signs and symptoms of the most likely medical emergencies that may occur in the dental practice
  • Demonstrate how to assess an ill patient by using the A, B, C, D, E approach
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the appropriate medications that can be administered
  • Discuss initial treatment for each emergency
  • Discuss when it is appropriate to call an ambulance
