To outline to the dental team the key issues surrounding decontamination and infection control in dental practice

Objectives

The objectives for this course are:

 To provide a detailed explanation of the procedures required for implementing effective infection control as recommended in the Department of Health Document HTM01-05

 To provide a clear understanding of the reasons for implementing these procedures

 To understand the importance and correct use of Personal Protective Equipment

 To understand the importance of cleaning instruments prior to sterilisation

 To understand the importance of decontaminating the surgery and/or the decontamination facility

 To provide a clear understanding of the advice on effective hand hygiene
 To understand the testing requirements of decontamination equipment
