Aims

To give the dental team an opportunity to learn what they need to do to make themselves compliant with the current legislation and advice regarding safeguarding children and other vulnerable groups.

Objectives

By the end of the session delegates will:

1. know the different types of abuse

2. know what to signs to look for in cases of suspected abuse

3. know which agencies are to be contacted when it is suspected that an individual is vulnerable to abuse or neglect

4. know when it is appropriate to share information regarding concerns

5. understand what their roles and responsibilities are with regard to safeguarding children and young people

6. know in summary the mechanisms and pathways a family will follow once they have been referred regarding safeguarding children and other vulnerable groups

7. be able to develop a practice plan to safeguard children and other vulnerable groups
