Lecturer profileNicole qualified from University of Leeds BChD (Hons) in 1983. After completing house jobs, she spent some time in general practice before studying for a postgraduate qualification in Anaesthesia, at the University of Sheffield Medical School

For many years she worked part time within the GDS and part time within the Community Dental Services treating patients with conscious sedation. She was appointed as Consultant in Special Care Dentistry within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS FT in 2009, and now works both within primary and secondary care treating patients who are medically compromised, learning disabled and dentally anxious. She is Training Programme Director for the Health Education Yorks And Humber Specialty Training programme in Special Care Dentistry, and is currently an invited member of the Specialty Advisory Committee RCS (Eng)

Lecturer profileLauren is a Specialty Registrar in Special Care Dentistry currently in her final year. She qualified from University of Leeds BChD (Hons) in 2008 then headed back to South Yorkshire as she is originally from Doncaster. After carrying out her VT job in Sheffield she fell in love with the city and decided to stay, and did an SHO job for a year. This was a 6 month rotation in max fax followed by a 6 month rotation in Special Care, during which she obtained her MFDS. This job ignited her passion for special care dentistry and following this she took up a job as a dental officer 4 days a week and an associate in practice one day a week. Shortly after she started working for the Doncaster out of hours dental service, something that she continues to do. Her main interest is the treatment of medically compromised patients and older adults suffering with dementia and degenerative disorders as well as enjoying providing treatment under intravenous sedation. In her spare time she plays high level hockey for Doncaster hockey club, and every now and then her dental expertise is needed on the pitch!

Lecturer profileAmy qualified from the University of Leeds BChD (Hons) in 2008. Following her vocational training year in a busy NHS practice in Leeds, Amy worked as an SHO in the Oral and Maxillofacial team at Bradford St Lukes Hospital for 12 months. After obtaining the MJDF Amy worked part-time as a Dental Officer for Cambridgeshire Community Dental Services and a part-time associate in a corporate dental practice.

Between 2011-2013, whilst working as a Dental Officer, Amy also attended the Eastman Dental Institute's part-time Diploma course in Special Care Dentistry and gained the Diploma with distinction in 2013. She is currently a Specialty Registrar in Special Care Dentistry within the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, this post is allowing her to explore her interest in the practical aspects of research within the specialty. Amy’s main interest is providing dentistry to people with mental health problems and those requiring care in non-clinical settings, for example on domiciliary visits in residential care and private homes
