Lecturer Details: Professionalism in practice

Lecturer nameNicola Burnett Smith
Lecturer profileNicola Burnett Smith was a Lay Member and Chair of the Fitness to Practice Panel of the General Dental Council from 2004 to 2014. She has also sat on the Conduct Committees of three other regulatory bodies. She has been a professional actor, voice-over artist, musician and singer since 1986, performing on stages all over the UK and Europe. In 2007, after many productive years combining theatre acting with roleplay and workshop design, Nicola created Xperient LLP with fellow actor and roleplayer Ian Sanders. Nicola has always had a strong curiosity about what makes interactions work. The same curiosity that made her enjoy interpreting theatrical interactions has made her a highly skilled roleplayer and facilitator in the private and public sector. The detailed, practical knowledge that she now has of the many difficult issues around professionalism and conduct, the public interest and the public safety are here combined with her skill as a performer and workshop presenter.
Lecturer nameIan Sanders
Lecturer profileIan Sanders started his working life as a Programmer and Systems Analyst, initially for the Ministry of Defence and then for a City Marine Insurance Company. At the age of 25 he went off to study at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School for three years and a successful second career as a professional actor followed on stage, television and radio. In tandem with this Ian developed a reputation as a skilled and insightful roleplayer and facilitator in the corporate and public sectors. His honest desire to help change people’s working lives for the better led to the establishment of Xperient LLP with Nicola Burnett Smith. The work they do together is a natural culmination of the many different strands of Ian’s working life to date. In helping to create Xperient’s uniquely engaging style, Ian’s aim is to make everyone’s day-to-day lives easier and more fulfilling.
