Description This is a 2 day course involving a combination of lectures, live model mark-up and cadaveric dissection. The programme includes: Therapeutic mammoplasty and breast reduction, Implant based reconstruction and augmentation, Perforator flaps for volume replacement and LD flap. There will be live models for marking up tutorials and cadavers for simulated operating. The course is aimed at senior breast trainees or fellows in general or plastic surgery.
Additional information

Please read the dissection room regulations prior to attending the course. You will be asked to sign that you have read the regulations on the day at registration.

The course Directors are Ms Caroline Strachan and Mr Wasif Tahir.

The course is free for Yorkshire and Humber Trainees. Priority will be given to regional trainees. Please make sure you meet the correct grade criteria for each speciality before booking your place. (See course description)

Non - regional trainees please contact CADSIM@leeds.ac.uk for availability and course fees before booking a place. The course fee is £500.00.

Surgical gowns, over shoes, facemasks and gloves are provided for the lab. If you wish to wear theatre blues please bring your own.

Aims

To allow trainees to gain knowledge, skills and hands-on experience in complex breast surgical procedures

Objectives

- Gain knowledge from experienced faculty through short talks and interaction during simulated procedures

- Gain familiarity with less common procedures - exposure to plastic surgical autologous flaps (for general trainees) and to complex conservation techniques (for plastic trainees)

- Hands on exposure to implants that trainees will rarely get prior to final years of training
