DescriptionThis course is aimed at surgical trainees with a specified interest in colorectal surgery and Urology ST 4 and above. Depending on availability the course may also be open to ST 4-8 trainees and Consultants from outside the Yorkshire and Humber Region. Participants will undergo a one-day course focussing on the principles and technique of sacral neuromodulation (SNM) for faecal and urinary incontinence. The course will feature small-group teaching from recognised national and international experts. Teaching will concentrate predominantly on the surgical technique using image intensifiers and human cadaveric material but will also feature lectures on other important aspects such as radiological anatomy, principles of sacral neuromodulation and programming. Course sponsorship is available which can cover accommodation for the night preceding the course
Additional information

Please read the dissection room regulations prior to attending the course. You will be asked to sign that you have read the regulations on the day at registration.

The course Director  is Mr Keith Chapple  Sheffield Teaching Hospital Foundation Trust.

The course is free for Yorkshire and Humber Trainees. Priority will be given to regional trainees. Please make sure you meet the correct grade criteria for each speciality before booking your place. (See course description)

Surgical gowns, over shoes, facemasks and gloves are provided for the lab. If you wish to wear theatre blues please bring your own.

Failure to attend the course on the day/s without contacting the course administrator prior to the course starting or cadsim@leeds.ac.uk will be followed up with your TPD.

The anatomy lab is on Level 9, Worsley Building, University of Leeds.

 On Tuesday 25th March, Axonics are sponsoring Drinks and  welcome at  18:15 followed by a talk and dinner at 19:30.   The venue  tbc.

Y&H trainees we will cover Tuesday eve accommodation and dinner, for everyone else we will cover Tuesday eve accommodation/dinner, travel and course fee.

You are able to book accomodation for the Tuesday evening in Leeds  and the  cost of this can be claimed back through Sheffield Teaching Hospital, after the  course.

Aims

To achieve sufficient knowledge and surgical skill to achieve full proficiency in sacral neuromodulation. Full instruction will be provided on Peripheral Nerve Evaluation and permanent sacral nerve stimulator insertion on human cadavers.
