DescriptionThis course is aimed at Regional Y&H trainees in Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Trauma and Orthopaedics from ST1 onwards and SuppoRRT trainees. Also available to the Advanced Care Practitioners and Physician Assistant in these specialities. Course will be delivered via two modes – online videos which would form a part of pre-course material and a face-to-face day when they would have hands-on practice of the ultrasound guided skill on cadavers. Trainees would be given a demonstration of the skill on the face-to-face day.
Additional information

We are running courses with 12 trainees and 6 faculty. The anatomy lab corridor is been run under NHS rules. A face mask must be worn as you enter the University site, you will need to provide your own mask.

Aims

Trainees will have online and face to face learning covering the following:

Basic Ultrasound and Physics

Upper limb sonoanatomy and blocks

Lower limb sonoanatomy and blocks

Chest (serratus anterior and PECS1/2) sonoanatomy and blocks

 Abdominal Wall Blocks 

Focussed abdominal scan for free fluid

We have also included the Focussed abdominal scan for free fluid.:

Objectives

Trainees will learn about each focussed area (as above) by having lots of hands-on practice sessions by group of experienced faculty. They will also have opportunity to do real time procedures on cadaver as well as experience using blue phantoms at every station.
