Aims

A regional induction for all new starter DCTs (including JDFDCT) joining the Yorkshire and Humber training programme from Sept 2026 to facilitate their preparedness for this role

Objectives

1. To facilitate the transition of Trainees into the DCT position

2. To outline the structure of NHSE (the Deanery) and its relationship to the employing Trusts and Teams and the DCT

3. To highlight key steps that the trainee will be expected to take early on in their DCT year

4. To explain navigation of the portfolio and achieving competencies for positive outcomes at RCP

Learning outcomes

1. Feel better prepared to commence a DCT post in a secondary care/Community post.

2. Be aware of the structure of NHSE (the Deanery) and their relationship to your employing Trust, your team and you.

3. Know the importance of early engagement with their training and development

4. Have an understanding of the Portfolio and RCP requirements
