Aims

To improve knowledge and understanding of Medico legal aspects of Oral Surgery in relation to the Oral Surgery Curriculum

Objectives

To understand the role of the legal team in secondary care

To be aware of the duties of a coroner

To raise awareness of information governance in relation to Oral Surgery

To increase awareness of complaints procedures in hospital settings and consent processes

Learning outcomes

At the end of the study day trainees will feel more confident in the roles and responsibilities of the legal team within a hospital setting. Trainees will also have more awareness of the coroner’s court and links to our practice. Trainees will be more confident in the use of GDPR on a daily basis and how to consent patients for common Oral Surgery procedures in such a way to avoid risk.
