Aims

To facilitate effective working relationships between dental nurses and foundation dentists during the foundation training year.

Objectives

To explore the supportive team working approach to patient care

• Explore the importance of early engagement

• Describe the role of the Dental Nurse

• How to deal with difficult situations

• How to provide feedback to empower autonomous reflective learning

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session dental nurses will be able to:

Describe the role of the dental nurse to support FD learning and development

Apply leadership skills for the purpose of progression and development

Recognise the importance of early engagement

Respond effectively to attitudes and behaviours – dealing with difficult situations

Provide feedback to empower autonomous reflective learning

Gain a deeper insight and understanding of the Foundation Training year
