This immersive session will give you a real taste of the clinical skills and practical expertise at the heart of the Oral Health Practitioner Apprenticeship (ST0542). Discover how this apprenticeship bridges technical competence with autonomous patient care in community and practice settings. You will experience hands-on clinical skills stations to take dental bacterial plaque indices, practise applying topical fluoride and take dental impressions. During the taster day you’ll explore how OHPs are trained to deliver and support more general health interventions blood pressure screening, smoking cessation and brief interventions, alcohol awareness conversations and obesity and healthy weight discussions. You will work through mini case scenarios, selecting appropriate preventive strategies and learn how OHPs adapt approaches for patients with diverse needs.
