Aims

To comprehensively discuss the contemporary advantages, disadvantages and indications for the use of removable dentures (partials and completes), bridgework (conventional and adhesive) and implant supported superstructures in Restorative Dentistry.

Objectives

1)Be able to clinically assess a partially or completely dentate patient and appreciate whether a fixed or removable prosthesis is indicated to replace any missing teeth. 2) Have an understanding of when a partial or complete denture may be indicated to rehabilitate a patient. 3) Understand how to prosthetically rehabilitate a gagging patient with a removable training plate. 4) Appreciate the indications, design features and limitations of adhesive bridge work. 5) Understand the uses, advantages and disadvantages of conventional bridgework. 6) Appreciate how dental implants can be used to restore single unit spaces, small spans and complete arches. 7) Understand the maintenance requirements and longevity of adhesive bridge work, conventional bridgework and implant retained superstructures
