Aims

To provide an overview of structures within the NHS, particularly regarding education and specific aspects of higher level NHS leadership.

Objectives

1. To understand the role of the Director of Medical Education and the responsibilities of trusts in the delivery of medical and dental postgraduate training.

2. To understand the organisational structure of the NHS with particular regard to those organisations involved in education.

3. To understand the role and responsibilities of the Clinical Director, including the management of underperforming colleagues.
