Peter qualified from Bristol in 1997. He spent two years in general practice and hospital dentistry in Newcastle and a further year in Bolton as a senior house officer in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He started his specialist and academic training in Paediatric Dentistry in 2000 and has been in Leeds ever since. His PhD was in the field of dental trauma. In 2009 he spent six months sabbatical working at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. He returned to England in January 2010 to take up a joint academic appointment with University of Leeds and Bradford salaried dental services.

Lecturer profileProfessor Drummond's research focus is on the improvement of oral health-related quality-of-life in children. Ongoing studies with graduate students include investigation of the longer term outcomes in children with early childhood caries, the changing oral biofilm in health and disease in children, the structural changes in molar incisor hypomineralisation (MIH), long term clinical management for MIH, measurement of the changing pH in the mouth over 24 hours, oral health of children of parents who are smokers and the knowledge and opinions of parents about oral healthcare for their children. Professor Drummond became Head of Paediatric Dentistry at Leeds Dental institute in 2017.

Lecturer profileStephen qualified from Bristol University in 1982, became a Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry in 1995 and is currently a Consultant and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Paediatric Dentistry based at Leeds Dental Institute, UK. Although most of his career has been spent in the hospital service, he has also worked in General Dental Practice and the Community Dental Service. He is a Past-President of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry and has recently completed his term as Chair of the SAC in Paediatric Dentistry. He is a member of the Faculty Board of the FDS RCS and is Chair of the National Consultants in Paediatric Dentistry Group.

Lecturer profileKatherine qualified as a dentist in 2011 from Queen’s University Belfast. She completed foundation training in general dental practice in the North of Scotland and after this worked in Aberdeen Dental Hospital for 2 years. She moved to London in 2014 where she worked in the Children’s department at King’s College Hospital. In 2015, she started specialty training in Paediatric Dentistry in Leeds Dental Institute and Bradford Community Dental Service. In 2018, she was added to the specialist list in Paediatric Dentistry and appointed to her current role in Newcastle Dental Hospital.
