Her background is as a Health Visitor and more recently as the Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Children within a large metropolitan borough (14 years) where she was responsible, with the Designated Doctor, for all aspects of safeguarding children within the health community.
A member of the local Safeguarding children board and chair of the learning and development sub group (10 years). In this role Marion was responsible for the development and delivery of multi-agency safeguarding strategies and training programmes. She has wide experience as a panel member of multi-agency serious case reviews with responsibility for implementing subsequent recommendations.
Marion continues to practice within the NHS as the Named Safeguarding Professional for General Practitioners and independent contractors in Bassetlaw until recently . She now works as an independent safeguarding nurse specialist / trainer, she is the safegaurding cooordinator for the methodist church cuircuit in Nottingamshire and is a specialist child safeguarding advisor to the CQC.

Lecturer profile | I started my nursing career at Rotherham Hospital and since then I have worked in many places and settings including A&E, Health Visiting and Safeguarding Children. I am currently employed as a Named Nurse in Adult Safeguarding in a joint Children and Adult team.
I studied at SHU before going on to gain a Masters degree at Huddersfield University in 2006.
I have recently completed the Best Interest Assessors Course, giving me a better understanding of the application of the Mental Capacity Act in practice.
My current role bridges both operational and strategic arrangements and involves offering advice and support to all staff across the Trust spanning a variety of issues related to adult safeguarding. |
