Aims | To provide an induction for new dental core trainees to the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the Leeds Dental Institute |
Objectives | By the endo of this Induction DCTs should: - Have toured the department, been introcuced to key staff members and be aware of how to access the DCT staff room. - Have a locker - Be familiar with leave booking rules and the process of booking leave. - Be familiar with Radiography equipment they may be expected to use, including the Local Rules for such. - Be familiar with the IT systems they will use during their placement - Have an understanding of the LDI pathways and have an opportunity to gain hands-on training in the domains of periodontology, removable prosthodontics, direct composite, crown and bridge, occlusion and endodontics. - Be appropriately mask fitted to allow them to carry out aerosol generating procedures. - Have medical emergencies induction. - Had an opportunity to shadow senior colleagues on clinic. - Have an opportunity to complete mandatory Leeds Teachiing Hospitals Trust training |
Learning outcomes | Delegates will be able to: Know who people are and who to speak to about different issues that may arise in their placement. Know where their office and lockers are and how to access them Know how to book leave Know how to safely use Radiology equipment within the department Know how to use IT systems as part of patient care and otherwise at LTHT. Know the standards expected for various clinical domains and had an opportunity to practice clinical competencies. Where further training is required this will be picked up early and opportunities to develop skills further can be arranged. Know which mask they can safely use when performing an AGP and be aware how to ‘don’ and ‘doff’ safely. Know how to safely manage a medical emergency Know where to access LTHT Mandatory Training and have an opportunity to complete this. |
