DescriptionThis training course is to support dental nurses who are involved with NHS Flexible Commissioning programme. Education will be delivered over 4 half day sessions, allowing 1 month between for independent learning.

Aims

This blended, online course aims to provide dental nurses with knowledge and understanding to suppport the NHS Flexible Commissioning programe in primary care.

Objectives

The objective of the course is to be able to explain and discuss:

The role of the OH Champion

Revision on Anatomy

Caries Process and Prevention

Basic OH education including measuring plaque and applying fluoride

Importance of effective behaviour change conversations

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session dental nurses will be able to demonstrate completion in all components of the Flexible Commissioning OH Champion.

DNs will be able to apply knowledge, understanding and skills to communicate effective oral health advice to patients and safely apply fluoride varnish.
