Face to face attendees are reminded that;

The course will support underpinning knowledge, skills and practical application required to accurately measure and record plaque indices, working to the prescription of a Dentist.

The objective of the course is to be able to explain and discuss:

The purpose and function of recording plaque to meet contractual obligations and establish patient pathways for prevention.

Practical application of skills

On successful completion of the course the learner will be able to:

Explain the purpose of measuring and recording plaque indices in relation to oral health assessment; patient motivation and oral health education.

Explain the legislation and professional guidance that relates to the process of measuring and recording plaque indices.

Apply skills to measure and record plaque indices accurately and to the prescription of a dentist and communicate findings and oral hygiene instruction to a patient.

Evaluate own skills in measuring and recording plaque indices and identify areas for self-development.
