Maximise your chance of success for specialty training applications!

This course is aimed at all those who are considering applying for specialty training and is open to those in primary care, secondary care and salaried dental services. It will also be open to those in Dental Core Training year 2 & 3 (DCT 2 and DCT 3).

The aim of the course is to provide an overview of the process of applying to specialty training and specialty specific tips on how to maximise your chance of success.

The course is designed in a two-part hybrid format.

The first part of the course involves recorded video presentations covering the following specialties:

1. Oral Surgery – Presented by Adam Jones

2. Paediatric Dentistry – Presented by Annabelle Carter and Erin Giles

3. Restorative Dentistry – Presented by Kasim Butt & Anurag Srinivas

4. Special Care Dentistry – Presented by Japarsh Gill & Thea Dickens

5. Orthodontics – Presented by Kenny Strain and Daniel Tyler

6. Oral Medicine – Presented by Sandra Gonclaves and Adam Bhanji

The videos to these courses will be made available via a link on maxcourse to delegates that register for the course. They can be viewed at delegates leisure and will be available to view up until March 2021.

The second part to the course will be a live Zoom question and answer session on 12.02.2021, with representatives from most dental specialties present.

An online survey will be sent to all delegates, regarding any questions they have for the live Q&A session on 12.02.2021 14:00-16:00.

Mandatory: DCT2, or DCT3, or Dental Speciality Trainee, or Dentist

This course will cover the key aspects of applying to specialty training, including:

· Shortlisting process

· National Recruitment

· Key advice on what is needed to get in

All candidates will have an understanding of:

• How to build a good portfolio in preparation for applying to Dental Specialty Training

• The application process for individual specialties, the requirements, and tips from successful applicants
